Baker on the road – the best Orkney food and drink

For the first time since starting my artisan bakery, I’m taking an entire week off! I thought I’d share a list of some fellow food and drink businesses in Orkney that I am looking forward to trying or revisiting.

It’s just a few more days until I go up to the Orkney islands – a place that is a very long drive away but very close to my heart. I’ve been visiting the Islands most summers for well over a decade. I did my Masters degree up there and most importantly, my mum & her husband (& pets) live up there!

Expect lots of holiday spam over on my Instagram & Facebook!

JP Orkney, Birsay

These guys make awesome jams and chutneys about a mile away from where my folks live! I’m definitely stopping by for a restock of their awesome produce to fill the suitcase.

Archive Coffee, Kirkwall

Archive Coffee is an awesome little lunch/brunch/coffee stop with awesome local produce at the heart of their dishes and the most AMAZING cakes and bakes made by my friend Rebecca

Orkney Sourdough Co, Kirkwall

I cannot wait to get my hands on some of Karin’s bread. Hopefully we will get the chance to meet so that we can talk about ovens and proofing methods, like true bread nerds!

Swannay Brewery, Birsay

Some of you may have seen me in my Swannay Brewery beanie on my deliveries. I’ll definitely be popping in for a crate or two (or 6) of Scapa Special 😍

Eviedale Bakehouse, Evie

Another fantastic little bakery, who specialise in Woodfired Pizzas. Yes please!

I’m also looking forward to trying Twenty One, Kirkwall and Orkney Street Food. Both of which I’ve been following with great excitement over the past year. I’m thrilled to see so many new and flourishing food and drink businesses on the islands!

The holiday will be over in a flash and I’ll soon be back in the kitchen, baking all your menu favourites like Oreo Brownies, Olive & Onion bread and lots more.

Head over to the contact page to put in an order for when I’m back next month!
